Applicable Standards for Induction Motor (Rotating Machines)
In this blog we learn about
standards. Different types of standards & their uses. Basically standards
is a level of quality or sometimes it used to as measure, norm or model in
comparative evaluation. Also standard is limit, or rule, approved and monitored for compliance by an
authoritative agency or professional or recognized body as a minimum acceptable
benchmark. For manufacturing or technical specifications contained in a
document that lays characteristics of a product such as levels of quality,
performance, safety, or dimensions. Standards may include or deal exclusively
with terminology, symbols, testing and methods, packaging, or labeling
requirements as they apply to a product. For Rotating Machine we are used different
types of standards such as IS (Indian Standards), IEC (International Electro
technical Commission), NEMA (National Electrical
Manufacturers Association) etc.
Following are the applicable standards:
1. IS
: 325 – Three
Phase Induction Motor Specification
2. IS
: 900 – Code pf
practice for installation & maintenance of Induction motor
3. IS
: 7816 –
Guide for Testing of Insulation Resistance of Rotating Machine
4. IS
: 1231 – Dimension
of Foot mounted A.C. Induction Motor
5. IS
: 2223 – Dimension
of Flange mounted A.C. Induction Motor
6. IS
: 12824 – Types of
Duty & Classes of Rating Assigned to Rotating Electric Machines
7. IS
: 4029 – Guide for
testing Three phase Induction Motor
8. IS/IEC
60034-1 – Rating
& Performance of rotating machine
9. IS
: 12802 – Temperature Rise Measurement of Rotating
Electric Machines
10. IS
: 15999 (Part 2/ Sec 1) or IES 60034 -2-1 – Rotating Electric Machine (Standard methods for
determining losses & efficiency from test )
11. IS
: IEC 60034 -29
– Rotating Electrical Machines - Equivalent Loading & Superposition
Techniques – Indirect Testing to determine Temperature Rise
12. IS
12615 – Energy
Efficient Three Induction Motor ( Three
Phase Squirrel Cage Motor )
13. IS
4691 , IS/IEC 60034-5
– Degree of protection provided by encloses for Rotating Electric Machines
14. NEMA
MG 1 ( 2011) –
This standard give the criteria for measurement of shaft voltage. For shaft
voltage as per this standard part 14 is given 500 m Volt peak to peak.
15. IS
: 6362 - Method of cooling for Rotating Electric
Machine
16. IS
12065 - Limit of
Noise level of Rotating Electric Machine
17. IS/IEC
60034 -5 - Degree of
Protection ( IP Code Classification )
18. IS
12075 / IEC 60034-14 - Limit of
Vibration level of Rotating Electric Machine
19. IS
13529 – Effect of
Unbalance Voltages on performance of
Three Phase Cage Induction Motors
20. IEC
60072 - Dimension
& output rating of Rotating Electric Machines
21. IS
13555 – Guide for
Selection & Application of 3-phase Induction Motors for different types of Driven
Equipment
22. IS
60034-8 – Terminal
Marking & Direction of Rotation
23. JEC
37 – (Japanese Electro technical committee) - This standard is also used in
Japan or some customer like EIL. This standard cover the all above standards
which is required for induction motor like testing ect.
This are
the some common applicable standards used for Induction motor or rotating machines.
There are many other standards which are available for certification testing or
special testing .That we are cover in other blog.
Good job, please add some other standard of related to rotating machine e.g.Enclosure & special testing or different loading of rotating machine etc.
